Corrective Care in Denver
Why is Correction Important?
The spine is the foundation of our body and is designed with curvatures to protect the spinal cord. Due to stress and strain over time the body may begin to develop structural compensations. If left uncorrected, this can add stress to the discs, joints, spinal cord, and nerves. Corrective chiropractic care focuses on restoring the natural curves in our body while also reducing the abnormal ones. In turn, this may help prevent pain and dysfunction as well as enhance nervous system function.
This first phase will include the majority of your corrective-based care and is determined through subjective and objective findings including X-rays. If symptomatic, this is also commonly known as the relief phase due to reduction and/or resolution of symptoms. These initial adjustments and home care recommendations break down abnormal neuromuscular patterns until your spine and nervous system begin to heal and stabilize.
During this phase your spine will continue to make corrective changes. This is when additional at-home rehab will be added to further stabilize and facilitate the structural changes occurring in Phase 1. Now that abnormal patterns have broken down, adjustments are able to re-wire and create new neurological connections.
The goal of the third phase will be ensuring your body is integrating and holding its new normal positioning. This establishes the foundation that allows your nervous system to adapt to everyday stressors. When the body is stabilized, it is better able to respond to stress so that the spine achieves maximum correction.
